TransPod is building solutions to solve mankind’s biggest upcoming challenge. The way people move is not sustainable. As the population is demanding faster deliveries and faster transport, it is critical to develop new transportation systems capable of moving people fast and clean.

Shrinking Distances, Building Connections

In a vacuum tube train system, pressurized passenger and cargo vehicles travel in a low-pressure tube environment, driven by linear induction motors and air compressors, at speeds exceeding 1000 km/h. TransPod’s cutting-edge new design enables a significant reduction in the investment capital, increase in reliability, and improved operational performance, allowing a stronger business case for this system.

TransPod’s vehicle and infrastructure are being designed together for optimal performance, using TransPod’s IP. Powered by environmentally-sustainable solar/electric energy in a system that is unaffected by weather conditions, TransPod’s system enables passenger and cargo travel that is faster than airline travel, creating an attractive choice for consumers, a high-potential investment opportunity for infrastructure investors, and a reliable mass transportation system.

October 2015

TransPod Founded.

TransPod team forms. Designing a 1000 km/h vehicle, the TransPod team consists of professionnals from aerospace and rail industry.

September 2016

InnoTrans Berlin

The TransPod System is unveiled at the InnoTrans Rail exhibition, in Berlin, the largest trade show of the rail industry, where it rapidly draws the attention of seveal industry leaders.

November 2016

Seed investment

Angelo investments commits $15 million USD towards the project. TransPod parners with MERMEC, SITAEL and Blackshape.

January 2017

Partnership with IKOS consulting

IKOS' expertise will support the general electrical system, and safety engineering of the TransPod vacuum tube pod.

March 2017

TransPod opens offices in Canada, France and Italy

TransPod’s operations have expanded to facilitate advanced research and development with partners and experts.

July 2017

TransPod releases Initial Cost Study

Analysis finds TransPod system will cost 50 percent less and travel four times faster than high-speed rail in Southwestern Ontario.

September 2017

TransPod released scientific peer-reviewed publication

Ryan Janzen premiers the paper at the EASD EURODYN 2017 conference, which presents the physics of the TransPod system.

April 2018

Kick-off – Power Converter Project

With the support of France and Canada, TransPod is developping a light-weight and compact power converter with spin-offs for the transportation industry.

June 2018

European-Canadian Partnership

Agreement with 3 European vacuum tube train companies to collaborate on the regulatory framework in Europe.

December 2018

Construction permit

The construction permit for the test track in France has been approved.

January 2019

Industrial partnerships

Three industrial partnerships have been signed at the Canadian Embassy in Paris.

March 2019

Thailand feasibility study

The first fully public report on a feasibility study has been published by TransPod.

August 2019

Feasibility study Marseille – Nice

A feasibility is conducted for a line between Marseille Airport, Marseille downtown, and Nice airport.

February 2020

JTC20

A working group has been created to draft the European regulations for vacuum tube train systems.

August 2020

MoU with the Government of Alberta

The government of Alberta, Canada, supports TransPod's development in the province, for a line between Calgary and Edmonton.

September 2020

Medical Ventilator project

TransPod receives the go-ahead from France, Europe, and Canada, to develop and commercialize a medical ventilator.

Co-Founder and CEO

Sebastien founded TransPod in 2015 and brings more than 15 years of experience leading engineers at global transportation manufacturers, including Bombardier, Safran S.A., and Airbus Group. He holds a master’s degree in aerospace engineering from ISAE-SUPAERO and Aix Marseille University in France.

Co-Founder and CTO

Ryan Janzen is the inventor of the TransPod system. His strategy was to create a new generation of tube transportation with key new technologies to create a safe high-speed transportation system. His concept gave TransPod key competitive advantages, including a low infrastructure cost, and fundamental safety. Janzen has been featured on the Discovery Channel, Wired magazine, and Through the Wormhole, with his innovations featured in 110+ international lectures, media interviews, and scientific publications. Janzen has created several “world’s firsts” including veillance flux and aircraft PLC, leading to advances in aerospace propulsion, physics, and new innovations for cities.
